We're a Certified B Corp™! What does that mean? // 2 min reading time

Cedita as a B Corp™

We're extremely proud to have been a Certified B Corp™ since November 2021, one of the very few technology companies to have achieved such a globally recognised certification and status.

We have always tried to do things the right way, it's baked in to our mission to improve peoples' lives. But that doesn't just mean we have to do good for our clients or our bottom line, we can be a force for social and environmental good too.

We wanted to be a B Corp™ to prove that we do things differently and this represented the best way for us to prove that to ourselves and our customers alike.

B Corps™ set the standard for how to use business as a force for good, and we worked immensely hard to secure our certification only to be super proud to show off the badge as much as we can.

Basically it means we care. A lot.

Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, says

We are delighted to welcome Cedita to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that Cedita are going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.

Their commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and really help spread the idea that we can redefine success in business to be as much about people and planet as it is about profit.

More about B Corps™

Cedita has been certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.

The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 (ours is 93 and we will improve that with each re-certification!) while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, the company will legally embed their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles.

In the Technology sector

Any company can do tech, every company does do tech, but it mostly comes with people designing tools and writing code without much thought for anything else. This is why we work the way we do.

The rigorous certification process to become a B Corp™ made us take a deep dive in to our impact on the planet and people around us, including who we choose to work with and how we treat our employees and customers fairly.

We are carbon negative in our operations, we have amazing work environments and benefits for our employees, and we place a strong focus on continually improving our customer interactions (as also evidenced by our ISO certifications!).
